Hester E. Shoto Memorial

Hester Shoto frequently stated that the three most important things in her life were her God, her family, and her sorority, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Ms. Shoto became a member of Zeta Phi Beta in 1954. She had the distinction of being a Life Member and held very prominent positions at the National (Parliamentarian, National History Advisory Board member, and Sargent-at-Arms), Regional (Historian, Corresponding Secretary, and chairperson for six committees), and Local (Undergraduate Chapter Advisor, President of Graduate Chapter) levels of the sorority. She chartered the Sigma Alpha Chapter on the campus of Kent State University in Kent, OH, and the Nu Theta Zeta Graduate Chapter in Warrensville Heights, OH. Ms. Shoto shared her talents with the Pan Hellenic Council of Greater Cleveland as President, 1st and 2nd Vice President, Corresponding Secretary, Parliamentarian, Chaplain, and Historian. She was also an active member of Antioch Baptist Church in Cleveland, OH.

Her credo, "God is first in my Life", exemplified the life and legacy of Soror Hester Shoto.
